SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- April 2, 2014 -- Palo Alto Networks (NYSE: PANW), the leader in enterprise security, today announced author and speaker Parmy Olson as the first honoree in the Cybersecurity Canon, an initiative to recognize authors and works of literature that have shaped, edified and advanced discussion of modern cybersecurity issues.

Olson, a staff reporter and former London bureau chief with Forbes magazine, was chosen by the Cybersecurity Canon advisory board for her 2012 book We Are Anonymous: Inside the Hacker World of Lulzsec, Anonymous and the Global Cyber Insurgency (Back Bay Books), which discusses the global implications of the Anonymous movement in the context of technology, sociology and cybersecurity trends such as hacktivism.

Olson will appear with Rick Howard, Palo Alto Networks Chief Security Officer and creator of the Cybersecurity Canon, during a special session and exclusive book signing today in Las Vegas at Ignite 2014, the largest gathering of enterprise security experts in the world.

QUOTE

"For the past decade, I have had this notion that there must be a Cybersecurity Canon: a list of must-read books in which the content is timeless, genuinely represents an aspect of our community that is true and precise, and, if not read, leaves a hole in a cybersecurity professional's education. We are excited to recognize Parmy Olson as our first Cybersecurity Canon honoree and we thank her for a book every cybersecurity professional should have read by now."
